Stop blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc.) and herbal supplements at least two weeks before surgery. If you smoke, quitting four weeks in advance significantly improves healing. On the day of surgery, arrive fasting, wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a companion.

In the closed technique, all incisions remain inside the nostrils — no external scarring and a generally shorter recovery. A cast and splint are worn during the first week, when swelling and bruising are at their peak. Most patients return to social activities and light work by the second week. Strenuous exercise and sun exposure should be avoided for 4–6 weeks. Final results become visible over 6–12 months as nasal tissue gradually settles.
